Just like any other advanced medical technology, stem cells have a number of uses, but they also have quite a few drawbacks. The biggest one is that they only grow in one direction. If you want to grow your new blood vessels in the opposite direction, you can’t do it. The other major problem is that stem cells can only be produced in the body you need them to be grown in.
So how do we use stem cells? Well, for a start, it is possible to grow a tissue in a laboratory. This is usually done by taking a healthy cell and then using it to grow a part of the body. It was recently reported that this technique is potentially fraught with complications, as stem cells can also get cloned from the same person. Also, there are many other risks involved with xenografts, including infections, rejection, cancer, and even death. But the long-term side effects of stem cell treatment are probably not worth the risks.
We don’t know how stem cell treatment works, but we do know that it can be risky. For the sake of argument, let’s say that your own cells are being stored safely, and then you go to a clinic for stem cell treatment. The stem cells will take up residence in your arm or somewhere in the rest of your body, and you will then be given a shot of growth factors to keep the stem cells from growing and causing more harm.
