For a long time I’ve been dreaming of a great big basement that I can call my own. I have to admit, I was a little bummed out when I saw that the novato builders I used to work with were shutting down because they were being bought out by other companies. I love the idea of having a more accessible, DIY building option, but having to make more compromises just to get a basement completed in the way we wanted is just a little bit frustrating.

I actually don’t mind building a basement in the sense that I don’t have to sacrifice space to do it I just don’t have to worry about what I’m building blocking windows or what I’m building blocking light. But that’s also the thing with building anything that you want, you can always buy more room.

Yeah, same as building a home and being a home owner, you can always buy more space, and the fact is that the more space you have the more you need to do and the more you need to worry about. The problem is, you can’t just go buy more space and then do it. You’ll just end up building it and then having to do it again. So that’s the thing.
