The best place to take your kids to this summer is in the great state of North Carolina. The state has the most gorgeous (and most perfect) beaches, some of the most scenic roads, and the best and friendliest people. I am a huge fan of watching NC’s sports teams, especially the Tar Heels. With the state’s many outdoor parks and great trails, we always find ourselves on the go.
I don’t think I’ve been to a NC beach in months, but I have been to the beach in North Carolina a few times in my life. It is a very beautiful place, and I have been there when it was still covered in water (as it always is in NC, no matter how cold it gets).
For those of us who are lucky enough to live only a few hours from the coast, we can easily get to one of the greatest beaches in the North Carolina. But in the same time, if you live in North Carolina, you are going to have to deal with some pretty stiff competition for the best beach.
The real reason this place is such a great destination is because it is a college. The beach in Mooresville is really just a recreation center for one of North Carolina’s large universities, and it is one of the only places that you can get a real beach experience for money. The only thing you can do to get there is to sign up for a day pass for the Carolina Beach Club. Then you can swim and relax for free.
Mooresville is about an hour’s drive from the beach, but a day pass for the beach club is $10.00. You can also rent a car and go out to the club. But you really have to be there to get the full experience.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather get my ass kicked on the beach. This is why you have to pay for the Carolina Beach Club. And also why I’d rather go there while I’m on vacation and not just for the sake of the experience.
One of the most frustrating things about the Carolina Beach Club, or almost any other public swimming area, is that you have to find a pool/club that you can actually use. You can only find a club which is open during the week you have to pay for the membership. And when you do find one open, you have to leave and come back the following day to find out if the pool is still open or closed.
The only way to find an open pool in North Carolina is through a membership application process. But even if you do find one, you’re still stuck with one of the worst membership processes for an open pool. In order to get the process to work, an applicant has to sign up for a membership with a certain number of years of membership. If you sign up with the wrong years of membership, you’ll be allowed into the pool for free.
So we were really excited when we found out the academy paid us to be here this morning; however, the pool is closed, and there is no way to get in. We were so excited to get this pool open that we spent the better part of the day outside in the freezing cold wondering if it would open again. Thankfully, our mystery pool member returned before we head over.
There is no mystery, and no way to get in the pool. The pool is actually closed again because of the snow.
